Tenth Annual High School WorldQuest International Knowledge Competition
This year this event is co-sponsored by the Boeing Institute of International Business and the World Affairs Council and will take place in the Anheuser Busch Student Center, and St. Louis University .
WorldQuest is a copyrighted offering of the World Affairs Councils of America with a long history of success in cities around the country. It is a competition where teams of high school students test their knowledge of pertinent topics such as globalization, world geography, current events, history, international economics, politics, and world leaders. In addition to the competition here in St. Louis, other competitions will be held in approximately fifty additional cities in advance of the national competition in Washington, D.C., which is scheduled for the weekend of April 20-22, 2012.
We believe the St. Louis competition will attract dozens of teams from public and private high schools throughout the region. Teams from each school consist of four students; we request that each school assign an adult coordinator. Team members can be freshman, sophomores, juniors, seniors or any combination thereof. There is no cost to participate.
The winning team will receive the opportunity for an all expenses-paid trip to Washington D.C. and the distinction of representing St. Louis in the national WorldQuest competition. While in our nation’s capital, other weekend activities will include visits to museums, monuments and meetings with government officials and other dignitaries. Second and third place winners will receive monetary awards.
Here are this year's (2011) categories for the event:
- U.S. Education: Competing
Globally - U.S. Economic Competitiveness
- Middle East
- China
- NATO
- UN Millennium Goals: Child Health
- Current Events
