In partnership with the Boeing Institute of International Business, the World Affairs Council is pleased to welcome on Wednesday, May 4 at 5 pm The Ambassador of Malaysia to the United States His Excellency Dato' Sri Dr. Jamaludin Jarjis

Registration opens at 4:30 p.m. in the Wool Ballroom of Busch Student Center. A reception immediately follows the program.

Dato' Sri Dr. Jamaludin Jarjis was appointed Ambassador to the United States with ministerial status in 2009. The photo to the left shows President Barack Obama at the White House as he welcomes the Ambassador at the November 4 credentials ceremony for newly appointed ambassadors. Ambassador Jarjis is a prominent corporate leader and politician in Malaysia. He first joined the Cabinet as Second Finance Minister in 2002. In 2004, he was appointed the Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs and then Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation-a position he held until March 2008. He has been a member of the Parliament since 1990 and was elected to the UMNO Supreme Council in 2000. Prior to joining the Cabinet, he served in various business positions, most recently as Chairman of Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), the national power utility company and the largest listed company on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (KLSE). Dr. Jamaludin holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Manchester in the UK, a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Manitoba, Canada, and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of McGill, Canada.
